Scott Avenue Self Storage
Location: Whittier, California
The project is a three story self storage facility with a managers office and second floor apartment. 83,000 gross square feet with 59,000 square feet of net leaseable, on slightly less than one acre.
The project was designed to fit an existing lot, located near a large, regional shopping mall and a residential neighborhood. Since the facility was going to be on such a small site, we had to maximize the building coverage of the lot. By making the project one single building, we make full use of the site. In addition to the storage building, we also included a tower element which will house a stealth wireless facility.
Due to the proximity of the residences and the height requirements, it was necessary to hide the cellular tower and an integrated building element was the best way to deal with the height restrictions.
